In a move to start de-cluttering our house I decided I would get rid of some of my books. I had been holding on to books that I really liked but will most likely never read again. What I did first was tried to sell them on eBay. While some sold, most did not. The ones that sold the best were hard cover and were most recently published. I had sold a bunch of books on eBay before and had more luck. I wonder if it is because more people are reading books on their Kindles or iPads. After realizing most of the books would not sell I registered for a website called Paperback Swap (http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php). The way this website works is you post books that you would be willing to send to other members. You pay the postage and there is no charge to them. After you have posted ten books you receive credits that allow you to request books. You will receive them in the mail at no cost to you. When mailing books you can take them to the post office and send them by media mail which is cheaper than first class. There are many book exchanges similar to this site online, but I chose this one because it seemed to have more of the books I already knew I wanted to read. If still no one wants the books I post to this site, I plan on donating them to our local library. I would love to be able to borrow the books I want to read from our library, but unfortunately it is small and most of the time does not have the titles I am interested in.
