Like a typical pre-schooler, my son will often ask us for things even though he already has a ton of toys. We are trying to teach him to be thankful for what he has rather than always wanting more.
The other night I sat down with him and asked him to dictate to me a list of what he is thankful for. Here it is:
- Spending time with Mommy
- Staying home with Mommy and Daddy
- Playing with his little brother
- Winter and Santa
- Ha-ha (the name of his stuffed elephant)
Apart from Santa, I think we are on the right track. Being thankful for what you have is a hard lesson to teach your children when they are constantly seeing new toys in ads or when they visit friends.
