Thanks to my friend Sandy, who got me thinking about Colby’s fifth birthday party coming up in September. Sandy is a real planner and her daughter’s birthday is the same week as Colby’s. She wanted to make sure we are not planning our parties for the same day.
I am trying to come up with some simple things to do this year that will hopefully also save us some money in the process.
I have made handmade greeting cards in the past so me and Colby could make the invitations. I already have a lot of the supplies.
Last year at Colby’s party we had a pinata and I had the kids do a scavenger hunt. I am going to have to think about some simple activities the kids can do at his party this year. Maybe we will have it at a park and encourage the kids to play hide and seek or tag.
September is the start of fall and apple season so I will have to research some delicious apple recipes. Our friend Cassie had the kids at her son’s party decorate pumpkins last fall. That was a great idea.
Sometimes kids birthday parties can be really over the top. I hope I will be able to teach Colby to appreciate the simple things in life. What could be more meaningful than to have your friends and your family come together just to celebrate you.
