On my way home from work I always stop to get the mail. The first thing I do when I walk through the door is sort it. I try to throw out everything I can and put the bills I need to pay in my bag to take to work to pay on-line during a break.
There is a ton of mail that we receive that I throw away (well put in the recycle bin actually) so I was wondering how I could limit it. Here are a couple of ways I found out about:
- Go to optoutprescreen.com to stop receiving pre-approved credit card offers
- Sign up on catalogchoice.org to reduce the unsolicited catalogues that are sent to you
- Do not send in product warranty cards. They are not required and they will most likely sell your name and number.
Closely related to junk mail, do not forget to call the National do not call registry at 1-888-382-1222. Your phone number will be blocked from telemarketers for five years and it works for cell phone numbers too.
