Shopping in a warehouse store does not necessarily mean you are getting a bargain. Sometimes it does not make sense for just one or two people to buy in bulk, but it can really help when you have a family.
We go to Sam’s Club about once a month.
We buy only the things we would regularly buy which are household goods that we always need and use like toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. For these things buying bulk is great because not only are you saving money but you are also less likely to run out of them.
Daily cooking supplies like salt, sugar, olive oil, spices, flour and sauces.
Things that do not spoil like peanut butter, canned vegetables, soups, and pasta.
We avoid the fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products and baked goods that can spoil within two weeks. The one exception to this is when we are hosting a party and are feeding a lot of people.
We buy the package with two loaves of bread and freeze one.
We do not often buy meat, unless we are having a big barbecue, but when we do we separate it into dinner portions before we freeze it. That way we do not have to thaw too much.
Sometimes shopping at warehouse stores is not as convenient as running to the grocery store, but it can definitely save you some money if done wisely. Buying things in bulk can also mean less packaging which is good for the environment.
